Serengeti Migration

Morning, in March, an elephant browses in the plain while 30 miles away...
on million wildebeest ( gnous) migrate from the North to the South of the park
It's calving time...
babies can run within minutes of their birth
they run for hours
along with zebras
it's hunting time for lion
and hyenas
who kill and not only scavenge
cheetah on the watch...

as well as leopard
this lion watches from the top of a kopi
a family of lions rests by a waterhole
and stares at us when we approach
This one year lion sits with a 2 month cub
who moves intrigued by us...
he looks like a big cat
but this one is almost adult
a black backed jackal observes from a distance
This lion sleeps between two trees!
zebras drink
and swim in muddy water
baby zebra with brown strips keeps his distance
Wildebeest look for the shade of acacia tree
Mother giraffe and her baby run away
this one eating flowers from the tree....
mesmerizes this bat eared fox
but not this baby velvet monkey
nor this baboon
It's time to prepare for the night
