Burma's Inle Lake

surrounding mountains reflect in its water...
it's a shallow lake with floating vegetation
old pagodas reflect in the lake
where people commute by boat
with canals along floating gardens
people have their daily life: salting rice cake...
or taking a quick shower...
while others with high heels and yoga pants chat on their cellphones
These are welcoming guests.
chatting with in the shadow of umbrella
there are big boats...
and smaller ones
fishermen row with their leg
and use their fish trap
rowing thru the vegetation
a mother watches from her boat...
her daughter washing a pot
while her dad comes back
They live in beautiful bamboo houses on stilts
with floating gardens
These Burmese smile at us from their boat
this big boat is running fast...
because a storm is brewing

Burma's Keng Tung Tribe market

Burma's Pagodas,monks, and pilgrims

The Schwedagon pagoda
with altars for each day of the week...
because each Burmese name first letter is that of his birthday
people pray and walk on the circular terrace
swept every hour of the day
group praying...
mother and daughter...
some with baby...
so cute.
monks pose for a group photo or...
talk with friends...
or seat alone
nuns do the washing after lunch
the Golden Rock Pagoda...
south of Bago
monks back from collecting morning alms
with Karen pilgrims...
and also"new wave" pilgrims...
with punk bamboo glasses
this one is an ermit
and that one a beggar.
the 24m (80') sitting Buddhas of Bago
the 54m (180') lying one
young monks at lunch...
intrigued by my camera
Loikaw pagoda perched on a rocky hill
Old pagodas
some overgrown by a tree...
with beautiful sculptures
